Trees

TreesToday’s poem is inspired by the Twenty One Pilots song with the same title, “Trees.” Their version forces me to reflect on the exact emotions I fight to hide from contemplation, but in that reflection I find the purpose to write my own verse and expel the words that imprison my confidence.

…and if you can figure out what that means, you win 10 points!

Check back every Saturday for a new poem named after a Twenty One Pilots track and as always, check out their music below!

dust to dust poem

Meet the author:

Hi, I’m Lauren. I’m a 22 year old Bostonian writer, poet, photographer, pianist, and belly dancer. I just graduated with my MA in English with a BA in English and Creative Writing from Brandeis University. Creating art is who I am, not what I do. I like to see the beauty in things that people pass by.

The Run and Go

The Run and Go

As a poet and twenty one pilots fanatic, it made perfect sense to write my own verse to the titles of all their tracks and post them as a new Saturday series on She’s in Prison. Despite last week’s brief hiatus due to Heart Week, from this point forward, all Saturday posts will be part of the series. As always, thank you to twenty one pilots for being a never-ending source of inspiration. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out my previous TOP titled poem “Implicit Demand for Proof” and  check out their version of The Run and Go below.
