Speechless

Speechless My wit atrophies into a freshly erased chalkboard, smeared with dust, remnants of brain activity dragged into a blur. I listen to what you say but cannot speak in return. I taste the chalk of words caked in my closed mouth, too dry to write them with sound. By the time I find a pen to transcribe my silence, you’ve left. I hit repeat on the same song 9 times while working on this post last night. Every play hit me harder than the last, a compounding obsession culminated in the fact that I’m talking about it right now. Maybe it means something and maybe it doesn’t. All I know is that today is Friday.

Sometimes I talk about the days of the week because I don’t know what else to say but most of the time I talk about the days of the week because their existence seems just as important as anything else. Wow, it’s Friday. Find a song you love and listen to it 9 times in a row.

  1. Once in a great while I stumble across a song, or re-discover one, that does seem to compel me to play it again and again, resulting in an infusion of feelings, sometimes welcome, sometimes not so. I thoroughly enjoy your writing, and if you ever wish to see your works of poetry published in a collection (in print), just let know. I would be glad to help.

  2. Sometimes it’s just great how some things seem to fit you and grow even more if you really listen to them over and over.
Like they are you or something.
I did not reply on stevenddorsey but I am curious if he has something of interest that may be beneficial. I thought I will respectfully ask you, and if so, and you’d like to share with me.

    1. Music has a way of sneaking into your body in unexpected ways for sure!

In terms of the second part of your comment I’m not sure I can provide an answer at this juncture as I have not collaborated with him as of yet.

      1. I do agree with you on the songs also. I guess we could tell stories one right after another. Lol
        Fun times, huh?
Oh, yes on the other. I have the curiosity of this and if you run up on something or hear anything and would like to let me now, I do appreciate it. It’s like so many things you say something and 50 people or more want to flood you or cut you out of the situation ..I’ve been around much of this over the years, and will get with you on email someday if you want.

  3. compulsions can be positive things. nothing wrong with extending the pleasure of the same tune many times over.
